Who runs this place, anyway?

I started in technology thanks to my father who designed power supplies for Zenith Data Systems in Illinois. After he passed away in 1988, I wanted to keep his memory alive by tinkering with computers.

My interest in mobile technology started when I got my first handheld - a Casio Cassiopeia A-11 Windows CE device. Shortly following that, I got a job as a Level 1 tech support representative for US Robotics (before and during, but not after the 3Com merger) supporting the PalmPilots. It was in that environment that I discovered mobile devices ARE the future and a combination of intuitive device design and developer support are essential to their success.

In the years that followed, I’ve cycled through handheld and mobile devices, MP3 players, cell phones and smartphones, and now to ultra-mobile PCs and internet tablets. Writing started in December of 2005 when thoughtfix.blogspot.com was established to write about the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. My “day job” evolution went from Level 1 tech support to higher support roles, low systems administration roles to high level roles, and finally to systems engineering and documentation. Combining all the experience I’ve gained in those to help average consumers learn about new technology seemed to just make sense to me.

People started reading. More people started reading. Videos and editorials began. Advanced hacks were published. Finally, after I arranged a trip to CES 2007, I decided that I want to keep this. ThoughtFix LLC was established in May of 2007.
